Thanks for sharing, Wanda! The malfunctioning cameras seem to be a common problem. That's too bad that it's still acting up!

Hi I want to share my experience that I had at the house as well. Me and my friend went on a ghost tour where we stopped at the house as part of the tour. I had a perfectly good working camera when I arrived in Savannah as well til I started taking pictures of the house. I was going to walk up to the door and try to take pics of the inside of the house through the mail slot but I saw a shadow pass by the door and needless to say I high stepped it right back down them stairs. Everyone was wearing a jacket that night because of the winds but I went from being very cold to burning up. I did catch the face of the little girl on my camera but right then, my camera started acting up wouldnt stay on for nothing. the camera wasnt that old but now I am going to have to get a replacement due to the fact it still malfunctions when I try to use it.

As soon as I saw that picture I saw the full bodied reflection of black cat. That is the typical color and animals eyes will be when taken with a flash.

According to "The National Trust Guide to Savannah," Benjamin J. Wilson did have the house built in 1868. His military status was shared with me by local historians and tour guides who had done research into the house. As for the details of the ghost story...well, that's why it's called a legend! Each one of us can decide to believe or not. I've simply relayed the stories I was told from multiple sources, including some eye-witnesses.

Beth,

A cursory Google search turns up nothing about a civil war general named Benjamin J. Wilson. You'd think even a confederate general would have a wikipedia page! The only things that show up are mentions in connection with this ghost story. How do we know this house was built in 1868 by said general? Where is any proof of the story of his neglecting his daughter, or easier, the 1959 triple murder of girls story? I find nothing on either story!

Sadly, you can't look in the windows at all anymore. They have been covered following an act of vandalism at the house. Even if the "girl in the window" theory has been debunked, there is still a plethora of strange activity at that house. I doubt we'll ever know the full story!

I agree with you completely. If you look at the photos the "anomaly" is in the same place every time. It's the same size, the same shape, the same position. All the pictures are taken from the same place, down and below at street level. When you blow up the photo and look closely you can see an object on the fireplace. And it's always there. You may see more or less of it depending on your perspective, but it's in the same spot every time.

I didn't do the walking tour, but I assume you can't walk up the stairs and take a picture through the window at eye level and get a clear shot of the fireplace.

There's an interesting story to the house, but as stated, it's nothing more than legend. Things on the fireplace just fuel the fire so to speak, but this is just an object in the room.
